A Healthy Environment

Children are encouraged to wash their hands before all mealtimes and to brush their teeth after lunch. A healthy child will benefit from our Nursery care but a poorly child needs the peace and quiet of their own home and parental love and reassurance. If you think your child may be infectious, please do not bring him/her to Nursery where there are so many other young children whose welfare must be considered. Please give your child enough time to recover before returning to Nursery.

If your child should become ill during their day at Nursery, we will telephone to let you know and request that you make arrangements to collect him/her as soon as possible. In the case of a serious accident or illness occurring, then the parent/carer will be contacted immediately, along with the medical profession. In the unlikely event of the parent/carer not being available, a senior member of staff will assume charge and if necessary take the child to hospital. We strictly enforce the policy of exclusion of children with diarrhoea and/or sickness as soon as it is discovered, until there have been no symptoms for 24 hours.
